I don't love the festivities of New Years Eve and the specific pressure of the evening's plans, but I do love the idea behind a new year. A journey around the sun, a time for reflections, and setting new intentions. It's such a wonderful thing, that we get to set a reset button in our life. And in earnest, ask something new and good of ourselves. At New Years, there are no presents to give or receive, no anxiety of a personal birthday with complexities of getting older (unless it is actually your birthday which might actually be really cool) and in general, it's kind of like a big birthday party for the earth. At New Years, we are all in it together, and that feeling of hope and something new transcends on the world all at once.
Some of my intentions (resolutions) are simple. For example, I only want to write in a .38 black pen this year. I feel that the new pens I bought (a pack of 10) will help me access professionalism and accomplishments, as well as satisfy my aesthetic stationary needs. I also spent about an hour this morning pursuing monthly planners. I settled on a planner that includes both monthly and weekly views. I am going to be so organized.
